Poker Books

Although the books can teach you to be an excellent player, it is also really easy to become a mechanical player, this is the case when the player is playing for the same way over and over again. Rather than following the author's advice as a blind following the guide dog, ask yourself why the writer feels that something should be done this or that way. Otherwise, reading the books will not improve your game at all, on the contrary, it can damage your game style.

Do not show your cards!

Do not ever, ever, unless you are absolutely forced to, show your card. Never if you win, and never if you loose.
Professional players will learn quite quickly to  guess your cards, if you err to do it too often, this however applies mostly to live tables.

It is also not so wise to tell your cards during the game in the chat (unless you want to spoof something, by informing the wrong cards and thus buff your position at the table), this way you might have a better chance to "bluff".

Evaluate the game and the players

Through time and experience each player will get his own game style, there is nothing wrong with that.
Do not unnecessarily try to change your style after each loss to decrease your losses, it is likely that in doing so the result is just the opposite.
No-one become good at poker after only one game, one book, or one night. Only by assessing your own progress of the game, your mistakes and you successes, you can learn to be a skillful player. This is the "thing" that distinguishes good players out of bad.

Winning or loosing does not depend on luck, but mostly on the skill. The world has a lot of people, it is therefore completely useless to assume that if you play a certain way, the other players think and act the the way you assume them to. Fold, Check and Raise, therefore, do not mean exactly the same thing for everyone, because, depending on the style you can use these in different ways.

Find out

It is easy to skip things that you not know or understood poorly. Do not do it playing poker. If you do not understand something, find out, use google for example. And even when you think you know, check it to be certain.

Check for free

A typical mistake beginners tend to do is not using the chance for a free "check". If you consider your hand to be really bad, don't fold immediately, first make sure that you are not in blind position. If you are, you can sometimes "chekata" for free of charge and at best can even win the pot!

Give up, if necessary

Do not forget that after the "flop" comes the "turn" and the "river". So, although you would think that you have a winning hand after the "flop", the situation might change quite a bit after the "turn" and the "river". So please do not forget that you can always give up, if your plan fails. Playing every single hand to the end is pure stubborness and only wastes your cash.

Playing it Live

When playing live-poker, all you do can be for or against you. A twink of an eye in a certains situation can blow your plan to pieces
Poker Face is extremely important part of a good poker player. Learn to react or actually not to react in any way regardless of what cards you get, how some other player bets, or what cards the flop reveals. On the other hand you can also try to fool or confuse other players with your reactions.

Remember that poker is just a game tha loosing is a part of it, even the best players do loose. The greatest difference between online and offline poker is that when playing live-poker, the dealer announces the winner, so dont rush to throw out your cards before the winner is declared.
